Our Story
Seven Generations Analytics Inc. was founded by Shawn Blankinship, an Nlaka’pamux finance and analytics professional (MBA, CPA, CA) and published academic scholar, to bridge the gap between Indigenous data and real-world decision-making.
Shawn began his career in accounting, earning his CPA while working closely with clients from the private sector, First Nations governments, Nation-owned businesses, and the not-for-profit sector. Through this experience, he saw the immense potential of financial data—especially when linked with socioeconomic datasets and community outcomes—to tell powerful stories and guide better decisions.
His graduate research deepened this perspective, identifying key Indigenous fiscal policies and their links to measurable outcomes. This work led to two peer-reviewed publications that advanced Indigenous values and perspectives within the field of data and policy research.
As Data & Analytics Manager at the First Nations Financial Management Board, Shawn established a national Statistical Initiative and built a data and analytics team focused on breaking down barriers that had long limited access to critical datasets. Under his leadership, new tools and insights helped First Nations governments use data to plan strategically and strengthen financial governance.
With much progress achieved, Shawn realized that a dedicated, independent firm could go even further—serving Indigenous governments and organizations, federal and provincial departments, industry, and researchers alike. Seven Generations Analytics Inc. was created to make Indigenous data more accessible, ethical, and actionable—empowering all partners to use evidence to improve outcomes for Indigenous people and communities across Turtle Island.
By unlocking the value of data, we can all contribute to advancing economic reconciliation — where governments create better policy, industry strengthens relationships and services for Indigenous communities, and researchers generate knowledge that benefits all. Seven Generations Analytics Inc. exists to make this vision a reality!
Clients We Serve
At Seven Generations Analytics Inc., we connect and transform diverse datasets — financial, demographic, social, economic, and geospatial — into clear, actionable insights. Our integrated approach makes high-quality data accessible for decision-making across sectors while ensuring Indigenous data is respected, contextualized, and aligned with community priorities.
Indigenous Governments and Organizations
Many Indigenous governments face barriers accessing and using the large public datasets that shape federal and provincial decision-making. We help overcome these challenges by providing secure, easy-to-use access to integrated data systems — empowering communities with insights for fiscal planning, community wellbeing, and long-term governance.
Researchers and Academic Institutions
We provide researchers with structured access to public Indigenous data, along with the context and analytics support needed to produce high-quality, ethical research. Our integrated datasets enable deeper exploration of trends in Indigenous economies, social outcomes, and community development.
Federal and Provincial Governments
We support public-sector partners in building more responsive, evidence-based policy and program evaluation. By connecting national Indigenous and socioeconomic datasets, we help governments measure outcomes, improve collaboration, and better understand the factors that drive community wellbeing and reconciliation.
Other Partners and Collaborators
We welcome partnerships with any organization, institution, or initiative that seeks to create positive change for Indigenous peoples. Whether through data-driven program design, community engagement, or collaborative analysis, we work with those who share our commitment to using data ethically and effectively to advance Indigenous wellbeing and self-determination.
Industry and Corporate Partners
We work with industry partners to help them understand and serve Indigenous communities more effectively. By connecting public data with community-level insights, we help businesses evaluate impact, improve service delivery, facilitate use of data in AI development, and demonstrate meaningful contributions to reconciliation and shared prosperity.
